Violence against women remains one of the most common human right abuses in the world. Women ages 15 through 44 are more likely to die or be maimed because of male violence than because of cancer, malaria, war, and traffic accidents combined. Being able to protect yourself doesn’t take years to learn, doesn’t require muscle or special athletic skills, fancy techniques, or months of practice at a martial arts studio. All you need to live confidently and joyfully is knowledge and the willingness to apply it. The most sustainable way to ensure there is a never ending supply of young girls and boys who are standing up for themselves and for all those who have no voice and visibility is to empower them with confidence.
